Report of CDE Programme : Department of Periodontology

Department of Periodontology conducted a CDE Programme on 30th January 2018. The topic of CDE was ‘Advances in Implant Dentistry’. Guest speakers for the programme were Dr. Sanjay Jain and Dr. Ritika Arora.

Dr. Sanjay Jain: Real Time Dynamic Navigation- The Future of Implant Dentistry (Lecture and Video Demonstration)
Dr. Ritika Arora: Innovations in Dentistry with smart Blood Derivatives- PRF Applications In Implantology, Periondontology and Skin Rejuvenation (Lecture and Live Demonstration on iPRF, aPRF membrane and sticky bone)

The programme was a huge success with 102 participants including heads and staff of other colleges in Maharashtra who attended the programme.

The programme was conducted in the auditorium, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Biotechnology, Pune. The programme started with inauguration by lighting the lamp at the hands of Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar (Principal, BVDU dental College, Pune), Dr. Amita Mali (HOD, Department Of Periodontology) and Dr. Sanjay Jain. Dr. Sanjay Jain was felicitated by Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar. Dr. Ritika Arora was felicitated by Dr. Amita Mali, Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar was then felicitated by Dr. Amita Mali and Dr. Amita Mali was felicitated by Dr. Vishakha Patil. This was followed by the welcome address by Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar and Dr. Amita Mali.

The inauguration was followed by the lecture and video demonstration by Dr. Sanjay Jain. His topic covered a new technology where satellite guided navigation system is used to assist the placement of dental implants with greater precision and accuracy. He also showed the video demonstration of how an implant placement surgery is done with the assistance of satellite guided navigation system.

Lunch followed this technology studded presentation by Dr. Jain.

The afternoon session consisted of the lecture and demonstration by Ritika Arora. Her lecture covered the use of growth factors in the regeneration of bone and other connective tissues with the help of subjects own blood. She also demonstrated how to use the blood effectively to derive the growth factors so as to provide maximum benefits in the tissue regeneration.

The CDE programme was largely appreciated by all the delegates who consisted of many stalwarts in the field of Periodontology
